Blistering Heat Up to 49°C Hits UAE — But Rain May Bring Brief Relief

UAE braces for severe heat, with inland temperatures soaring up to 49°C. Coastal areas will also feel the heat, while isolated rainfall may occur later this week. Residents are urged to follow safety tips and stay updated on official forecasts.

Dubai: Residents across the UAE should prepare for scorching weather this week as inland temperatures are set to soar between 44°C and 49°C, according to the latest forecast by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). Coastal and island regions will see highs of 40°C to 45°C, while mountainous areas could experience temperatures rising to 35°C to 40°C.

Despite the intense heat, the forecast also brings a hint of relief: isolated rainfall is possible in some areas. The NCM predicts fair to partly cloudy skies, with a chance of convective cloud formation over eastern parts of the country by afternoon, especially through Friday.

Winds are expected to remain light to moderate but could freshen at times during the day, providing brief cooling moments. Meanwhile, sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are forecast to stay calm with slight waves.

Precautions urged as heat peaks
As temperatures push toward extreme levels, health officials and authorities are urging the public to take extra care to avoid heat-related illnesses.

Among the key safety tips:

  • Limit outdoor activities, especially during peak hours from 12 pm to 4 pm.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, even if you’re not feeling thirsty.
  • Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing and use hats or umbrellas when outdoors.
  • Avoid drinks with caffeine or high sugar content, as they can contribute to dehydration.
  • Never leave children or pets inside parked cars, as temperatures can rise dangerously in just minutes.

Stay updated
The NCM advises residents to keep an eye on official weather updates and to follow safety guidelines issued by authorities. While the prospect of isolated showers may bring momentary relief, the main concern remains the extreme heat expected across much of the country.
