A Grand Opening to the Festival Season
The Dubai Shopping Festival 2025 officially opened today with the return of its much-loved drone shows, transforming the skies above Bluewaters Island and The Beach, JBR into a vibrant display of light and colour. Residents and tourists can enjoy the spectacular visuals every evening at 8 PM and 10 PM, completely free of charge.
Two Signature Shows for Visitors
This year’s DSF features two specially curated drone performances.
- The 8 PM show, titled “Dubai, City of Dreams,” highlights the emirate’s spirit, growth and futuristic vision.
- The 10 PM show, named “Celebrations,” brings a more festive tone, filled with dynamic patterns and holiday-themed imagery.
These shows will run throughout the festival period, offering something new for viewers each night.
More Than 1,000 Drones Take to the Sky
For 2025, the event uses over 1,000 LED-powered drones, allowing for richer colours, sharper images, and more complex formations than in previous editions. The aerial choreography is synchronized with music and lighting displays, creating an immersive experience that blends technology with storytelling.
Ain Dubai Joins the Show
A unique highlight this year is the integration of Ain Dubai’s lighting system, which syncs with the drone formations. The result is a coordinated visual performance that stretches across the entire waterfront, making the skyline feel alive with motion, colour, and rhythm.
New Pyro-Drone Effects Introduced
The late-evening “Celebrations” show features brand-new pyro-drone effects, creating firework-style bursts in the sky using drone technology. These effects deliver the energy of fireworks while being quieter and environmentally safer — a major attraction for families and children.
Where and When to Watch
Visitors can enjoy the shows from:
- Bluewaters Island
- The Beach, JBR
Promenade areas, beachfront lounges, and outdoor dining spots offer some of the best vantage points.
The drone shows run nightly from December 5, 2025 to January 11, 2026, and no tickets are required. Early arrival is recommended on weekends due to large crowds.
A Festive Atmosphere for Everyone
With the return of DSF, the waterfront area becomes a lively hub of music, food, shopping, and entertainment. Families, couples, and tourists can enjoy an uplifting festive atmosphere while watching the drones paint animated scenes, cultural motifs, and celebratory imagery across the night sky.
