Dust, Winds and Light Rain to Sweep Across UAE This Week

Dust, Winds and Light Rain to Sweep Across UAE This Week

Dusty winds, increased cloud cover, and chances of light rain are expected across the UAE this week. The changing weather may bring reduced visibility and slightly cooler temperatures in some areas.

Change in Weather Expected Across the UAE

The UAE is set to experience a shift in weather conditions this week, with dust, clouds, and light rainfall expected in several parts of the country. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the week will begin with generally fair to partly cloudy skies before conditions gradually become more unsettled.

Cloud cover is expected to increase, especially over coastal areas and islands, bringing a noticeable change from the recent stable weather pattern.

Dust and Strong Winds to Reduce Visibility

As the week progresses, winds are expected to strengthen, particularly in western regions. These winds may reach speeds of up to 40 km/h, raising dust and sand and reducing visibility in some areas.

Authorities often advise caution during such conditions, especially for motorists, as blowing dust can impact road visibility. The shifting wind directions—from south-easterly to north-westerly and north-easterly—are also contributing to the unstable weather pattern.

Light Rain Likely in Coastal and Eastern Areas

There is a chance of light rainfall from midweek, particularly across coastal regions, islands, and some eastern areas. The rainfall is expected to be scattered and generally light, but it signals a break from the dry conditions typically seen during this period.

These conditions are linked to weak pressure systems affecting the region, which are bringing increased cloud formation and moisture.

Drop in Temperatures Expected

Along with dust and rain, temperatures are forecast to decrease, especially in coastal regions. The drop is expected to be more noticeable from Tuesday onwards, providing some relief from warmer conditions experienced earlier.

While inland areas may still remain relatively warm, coastal zones are likely to see cooler daytime conditions as cloud cover increases.

Sea Conditions to Turn Rough

The changing weather is also expected to affect sea conditions. The Arabian Gulf may experience moderate to rough seas at times due to stronger winds, while the Oman Sea is likely to remain relatively calmer with slight to moderate conditions.

Fishermen and those planning marine activities are advised to stay updated with official forecasts, as sea conditions may vary during the week.

Conditions to Improve Towards the Weekend

By Friday, weather conditions are expected to stabilise slightly across the country. Skies will remain partly cloudy, but winds are likely to ease, and sea conditions are expected to become calmer.

Although the unsettled phase may be short-lived, it highlights the seasonal transitions that can bring sudden changes in weather across the UAE.

Staying Prepared

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially during dusty conditions or periods of reduced visibility.

This week’s forecast serves as a reminder that even in typically dry climates, short spells of unstable weather can impact daily routines, travel, and outdoor activities across the UAE.
