Dubai World Trade Centre has earned the Green Globe Gold Certification for the fifth year, highlighting major sustainability milestones including solar power, biodiesel fleets, and waste-to-energy initiatives that set new standards in eco-friendly event management.
The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has once again proven its commitment to sustainability by achieving the Green Globe Gold Certification, marking five consecutive years of excellence in environmental performance and responsible event operations.

This recognition celebrates DWTC’s ongoing progress in reducing its carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency, and promoting clean energy use across its operations.
In 2024, DWTC’s rooftop solar power system — with a capacity of 3.4 MW — generated nearly 5 million kWh of renewable energy, helping offset significant emissions from traditional power sources.
The venue has also integrated biodiesel-fuelled vehicles, waste-to-energy programs, and eco-efficient kitchen systems to minimize environmental impact. These initiatives collectively diverted more than 4 tonnes of waste from landfills, reduced 14 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, and saved nearly 47,500 litres of water last year.
DWTC’s sustainability strategy is built around three key pillars — Planet, People, and Governance.
These efforts reflect DWTC’s proactive approach to environmental stewardship, making it a role model for large-scale event venues across the region.
Handling over 17,500 tonnes of waste in 2024, DWTC successfully diverted more than 5,200 tonnes through recycling, composting, and partnerships with sustainability leaders like BEEAH and EnviroServe.
Such consistent performance places DWTC among the global frontrunners in sustainable event management and underscores Dubai’s broader commitment to hosting eco-conscious international events.
As DWTC continues expanding its event portfolio — including future developments like the Dubai Exhibition Centre — sustainability remains a top priority. The organisation plans to further enhance renewable energy adoption, promote circular economy initiatives, and inspire industry-wide green transformation.
