GITEX Global 2025 Opens in Dubai with Record Scale and Bold Tech Vision

Dubai, UAE — October 15, 2025

The 45th edition of GITEX Global officially opened on October 13 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Running until October 17, the event has once again positioned Dubai as a global hub for innovation, digital transformation, and smart governance, attracting leaders, innovators, and policymakers from across the world.

Vision and Inauguration

At the opening ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed described GITEX as more than just a technology showcase, calling it “a global movement” that reflects the UAE’s determination to embrace innovation, convert challenges into opportunities, and strengthen its leadership in the global digital economy.

He toured major pavilions featuring breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and quantum technologies, with leading global firms such as Amazon Web Services, G42, Microsoft, IBM, Huawei, and Oracle showcasing their latest solutions.

The UAE Vice President also announced a strategic target: boosting Dubai’s annual economic contribution from digital transformation to AED 100 billion by 2033.

Scale, Participation & Themes

• Dates & Venue: October 13–17, 2025, at the DWTC.
• Participants: More than 6,800 companies, 2,000 startups, and 1,200 investors, representing over 180 countries.
• Tracks & Focus: The event spans a wide range of co-located shows including Expand North Star (startup and investment focus), as well as exhibitions dedicated to AI, cybersecurity, biotechnology, fintech, mobility, and sustainability.

Innovation Highlights

• Smart Mobility: The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) introduced 11 smart transport projects, headlined by the futuristic AI-powered “Trackless Tram”, designed to revolutionize urban mobility.
• AI Policing: Dubai Police revealed AI-enabled electric patrol cars capable of detecting visa and residency violations in real time, along with Smart Police Stations to strengthen automated security and public safety.
• Golden Visa Support: The UAE unveiled enhanced consular services for Golden Visa holders, including emergency assistance abroad, replacement travel documents, repatriation, and family support services.

Infrastructure & Future Expansion

GITEX also highlighted Dubai’s long-term vision for global events. Sheikh Mohammed has approved a AED 10 billion master plan to expand the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City.

• Phase 1 (by 2026): Exhibition space will grow to around 140,000 sq m, nearly doubling current capacity.
• Later Phases (2028–2031): Total indoor space will reach 180,000 sq m, supported by upgraded roads, parking, and logistics facilities.

From late 2025 onwards, GITEX Global — along with other flagship events such as Gulfood — will relocate to the DEC, signaling Dubai’s commitment to hosting larger and more advanced exhibitions.

Experience & Challenges

Visitors this year are witnessing a “future-in-action” atmosphere with robotics, AR/VR experiences, AI demonstrations, and immersive digital government services. The Digital Dubai Pavilion, featuring more than 50 government and private entities, stands out as a centerpiece of innovation in citizen services and governance.

Yet, the debut of AI-powered patrol systems and surveillance tools has raised questions around privacy, data security, and regulatory frameworks. Experts also caution about challenges in scaling such technologies for real-world use.
