This year’s road to the Academy Awards has been unusually long and unpredictable. By the time the Oscars take place on March 15, nearly 11 months will have passed since the film Sinners first generated buzz among audiences in April. Several other contenders joined the race soon after their premieres at the Cannes Film Festival in May, setting the stage for a marathon awards campaign.
