Abu Dhabi: The UAE is set to experience a change in weather this week, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting scattered rainfall, cloudy skies, and slightly cooler temperatures from Wednesday through Saturday.
According to NCM, the shift comes as a surface low-pressure system from the east interacts with an upper-level high-pressure system, creating conditions favorable for cloud formation and precipitation.
On Wednesday, the weather will remain partly cloudy to clear across much of the country, with convective clouds forming over the eastern and mountainous regions by the afternoon. These may bring localized rainfall. Coastal areas, particularly in the west, are expected to see a slight dip in temperatures. Nights and early mornings will be humid in western regions, with the possibility of fog or light mist. Winds will blow from the southeast to northeast at 10–25 km/h, occasionally reaching 40 km/h and stirring up dust. Seas will remain calm to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and calm in the Sea of Oman.
Thursday will bring similar conditions, with convective clouds developing over eastern and southern regions, producing scattered showers. Humidity will continue in the western areas overnight and into the early morning, leading to fog in some places. Winds will be variable, intensifying at times and carrying dust and sand across inland areas.
Friday and Saturday are expected to follow the same pattern, with partly cloudy skies, occasional rainfall in the east and south, and nighttime humidity leading to fog in coastal and inland regions. Winds will remain southeasterly to northeasterly, sometimes stirring dust, while sea conditions stay calm to moderate.
The NCM noted that temperatures will show a slight overall decrease during this period, particularly in coastal and western regions, providing some relief after the recent extreme heat that saw highs of 48.3°C in Al Dhafra earlier this month.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution during foggy conditions and for residents to stay alert for official weather updates.
