UAE Citizens Now Enjoy 90-Day Visa-Free Stays in Japan
Effective June 1, 2025, Emirati citizens holding ordinary passports can now stay in Japan for up to 90 days per visit without the need for a prior visa. This extension from the previous 30-day limit underscores the strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and Japan.
The UAE Embassy in Japan announced that this development aims to facilitate greater opportunities for tourism, business, cultural exchange, and academic cooperation between the two nations. It also reflects the global recognition of the strength of the Emirati passport, which consistently ranks among the most powerful worldwide, granting holders visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 180 countries.
This policy change builds upon the longstanding partnership between the UAE and Japan, highlighting both countries' commitment to fostering deeper people-to-people ties and enhancing mobility for their citizens.
For UAE residents who are not citizens, Japan has resumed its e-visa services as of August 1, 2024. Applicants can now apply for a 90-day single-entry tourist visa online through VFS Global, streamlining the process for travelers.
This initiative is part of Japan's broader efforts to boost tourism and strengthen international relations, making it more convenient for UAE residents to explore the rich cultural heritage and modern attractions of Japan.
