UAE Scorches at 49°C: Rain and Dust Storms Expected in Some Areas

The UAE faces extreme heat today, with temperatures soaring up to 49°C in inland areas. The National Center of Meteorology warns of possible rain in eastern and southern regions, dusty winds, and rising humidity overnight. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid peak sun hours, and take precautions against dust and heat.

Dubai – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has warned residents across the UAE of extremely hot weather conditions today. Temperatures are expected to rise to a scorching 49°C in some internal parts of the country. Along with the heat, there is also a possibility of rain and dusty winds in certain areas.

According to the NCM, the weather will generally be fair to partly cloudy. However, there is a chance of convective cloud formation, especially in the eastern and southern regions of the country. These clouds could lead to scattered rainfall during the day.

Rising Temperatures Across the Country

The heatwave continues to grip the UAE, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 44°C and 49°C in inland areas. Coastal and island regions will also experience high temperatures, ranging between 40°C and 45°C. In the mountainous regions, conditions will be slightly cooler, with temperatures expected to stay between 33°C and 39°C.

The NCM has also indicated that temperatures may rise slightly during the day compared to previous days.

High Humidity and Mist Formation

Humidity levels are expected to increase by the evening and continue into Tuesday morning. This increase will mainly affect coastal and internal regions, and could lead to mist or light fog formation in some areas. Drivers and early morning commuters are advised to be cautious, as visibility may drop due to mist.

Dusty Winds and Reduced Visibility

The weather forecast also mentions that winds will be light to moderate throughout the day. However, at times the winds could become stronger and stir up dust, especially in open areas. This could lead to reduced visibility on roads, which may cause hazardous driving conditions.

People with respiratory problems or allergies should take extra care and avoid exposure to dusty conditions. It’s also recommended to keep windows closed and wear masks if necessary when venturing outside.

Sea Conditions Remain Calm

Despite the high temperatures and dusty winds, sea conditions are expected to remain relatively calm. The Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea will both experience slight wave activity, making it safe for boating and marine activities. However, it’s still important to stay updated on any sudden changes in weather before heading out to sea.

Safety Advice for Residents

With extreme heat gripping the country, authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions. It is important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day and avoid spending too much time outdoors, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Wearing light and breathable clothing, using sunscreen, and taking breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas can also help reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.

People working outdoors, such as in construction or delivery services, are advised to follow all safety protocols to avoid heat exhaustion or heatstroke. Employers are also encouraged to follow mid-day break regulations and ensure workers have access to shade and drinking water.

Be Weather Aware

The NCM continues to monitor the weather closely and urges everyone to stay informed through official channels. Sudden weather changes such as unexpected rainfall, increased wind speeds, or dust storms may occur, and timely updates will be provided.

Residents can check the NCM website or follow its social media pages for the latest forecasts and warnings. The authorities also recommend using weather apps for real-time alerts and planning daily activities accordingly.
