UAE Weather Alert: Blistering Heat and Rain Chances Collide

After brief showers in Dubai and Al Ain, the UAE braces for more extreme heat today with temperatures soaring up to 49°C. The NCM warns of possible afternoon rain in eastern and southern areas due to cloud buildup, along with rising humidity and fog risk overnight. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid sun exposure.

Dubai – After unexpected light to moderate rain in parts of Dubai and Al Ain yesterday, many residents are now wondering if more showers are on the way. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the UAE is in for another extremely hot day with a chance of some scattered rainfall in specific areas.

The weather forecast for today points to fair to partly cloudy skies across most of the country. However, temperatures are expected to soar once again, especially in inland areas where the mercury could hit a scorching 49°C.

Possible Rain in the Afternoon

Despite the intense heat, NCM has warned that there is a possibility of rainfall due to convective cloud formation, particularly in the eastern and southern regions of the UAE. These clouds typically build up during the afternoon, increasing the chances of short, scattered showers.

While the rain yesterday brought temporary relief to some residents, especially in Dubai and Al Ain, it did little to cool down the overall summer heat. If the predicted cloud formations occur again today, similar rainfall may be witnessed, although not guaranteed.

Temperature Ranges Across the Country

Coastal areas and the islands are expected to see temperatures ranging from 40°C to 45°C. Meanwhile, the mountainous regions will be slightly cooler with highs between 33°C and 39°C. The intense summer heat continues to affect all parts of the country, with many residents advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours.

Increased Humidity and Fog Risk

Humidity is also set to increase tonight and into early Wednesday morning, especially in coastal areas. This rise in moisture could lead to the formation of fog or mist in various regions, particularly moving from the southeast towards the northwest.

Motorists are urged to drive with extra care as visibility could be affected by both fog and blowing dust. The NCM has also cautioned that dusty conditions may occur during the day, caused by moderate winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h.

Wind and Sea Conditions

Winds will be light to moderate overall, ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, but they may become stronger in some areas. These stronger winds might stir up dust and sand, reducing visibility on roads and possibly affecting daily commutes.

Despite the winds, sea conditions will remain generally calm. The Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to have only slight wave activity, making it safe for marine activities, although caution is always advised.

Stay Safe and Hydrated

With such extreme weather conditions, health officials are urging people to take necessary precautions. Residents should avoid going outdoors during the hottest parts of the day and are advised to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

The UAE government continues to monitor the weather closely and provide timely updates to the public. People are encouraged to stay tuned to official forecasts and alerts from the NCM and follow all safety instructions, especially during extreme weather.
