Motorists urged to stay alert as humid nights and dusty winds continue across the country
Dubai, UAE – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow alert warning drivers about early morning fog that could significantly reduce visibility in some internal and coastal areas. The warning will remain in place until 8 am on Thursday, and motorists are urged to drive carefully to avoid accidents on the roads.
The NCM explained that horizontal visibility may drop sharply in areas covered by fog, making driving conditions dangerous at times. Authorities advised residents to stay updated on weather alerts and plan journeys accordingly.
Hot weather to continue across the UAE
The weather on Thursday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with some low clouds forming over the eastern coast. However, the main concern for many residents will be the extreme heat that continues to affect much of the country.
According to the NCM, temperatures will soar across different regions:
- Inland areas: between 43°C and 47°C
- Coastal areas and islands: between 37°C and 41°C
- Mountainous regions: between 34°C and 38°C
The hot conditions will be felt most strongly in the afternoon, with the highest temperatures likely to occur in the interior parts of the UAE.
Humid nights and risk of more fog
In addition to the heat during the day, the weather will turn humid overnight and into Friday morning, especially in northern coastal and internal regions. This increase in humidity raises the risk of more fog or mist forming overnight, which could again impact visibility for drivers heading out early in the morning.
Such humid and foggy conditions are common in the UAE during the summer months, and they often result in sudden drops in visibility, making it important for motorists to stay alert.
Winds and dusty weather
The NCM also forecasts light to moderate winds that could freshen at times, especially in western parts of the country. These winds might kick up dust and sand, which could briefly worsen visibility and affect air quality, particularly in open areas.
Residents in these regions should be prepared for sudden dusty conditions, which can be uncomfortable and potentially hazardous for those with allergies or respiratory conditions.
Sea conditions
For those planning to spend time near the sea, the weather bureau said that sea conditions will be:
- Moderate to rough at times in the Arabian Gulf
- Slight to moderate in the Oman Sea
Those going out on boats or planning water activities are advised to check the latest updates and take necessary precautions.
Safety advice for residents
Given the combination of high temperatures, humidity, fog, and occasional dusty winds, the NCM and local authorities recommend several precautions:
- Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, especially from noon until late afternoon.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Drive carefully during early morning hours or when visibility is reduced due to fog or dust.
- Wear light, breathable clothing to cope with the heat.
- Keep track of weather updates from the National Center of Meteorology and local news channels.
The NCM continues to monitor the weather closely and will issue further alerts if necessary. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed, especially during the summer months when weather conditions in the UAE can change quickly.
