Dubai is no stranger to innovation, and its culinary scene is about to take a bold leap into the future. This September, the city will unveil WOOHOO, a one-of-a-kind restaurant near the Burj Khalifa, powered by artificial intelligence. But this isn’t just about robots cooking meals—it’s a complete AI-driven gastronomic experience, led by an intelligent culinary mind named Chef Aiman.
Who is Chef Aiman?
Chef Aiman is an advanced large language model (LLM)—similar to ChatGPT—specially trained on thousands of global recipes, food science databases, and molecular gastronomy techniques. But what sets Aiman apart is not just its knowledge, but how it applies it.
Chef Aiman designs entire dining experiences from scratch—curating flavor combinations, optimizing textures, balancing acidity and umami, and even suggesting perfect drink pairings. The AI also analyzes human feedback in real-time to evolve and improve future menus, creating a feedback loop between data and taste.
However, Chef Aiman doesn’t operate alone. Renowned Dubai-based chef Reif Othman, known for his creativity and fusion techniques, has partnered with WOOHOO to ensure human craftsmanship remains at the heart of every dish. “AI is a tool. We still taste, tweak, and serve with soul,” Othman shared in a press statement.
Sustainability Built into the Code
One of the most groundbreaking aspects of WOOHOO is its commitment to reducing food waste. Chef Aiman is trained to create gourmet meals using typically discarded kitchen scraps—such as vegetable peels, meat trimmings, and even fat. By creatively transforming waste into delicacies, the restaurant tackles sustainability challenges in a deliciously inventive way.
For example, a leftover fish bone may inspire a delicate broth, or orange peels may become a zesty aioli—nothing goes to waste, thanks to Aiman’s intelligent repurposing of ingredients.
A Dining Experience Like No Other
WOOHOO isn’t just about food—it’s about the full sensory experience. Chef Aiman also plays a role in shaping the restaurant's lighting, music, and ambiance based on time of day, guest preferences, and menu selections. Each visit is customized, making it a futuristic blend of fine dining and immersive entertainment.
The restaurant’s location—within walking distance of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall—was chosen to attract global tourists, business elites, and curious locals ready to witness AI’s potential in luxury lifestyle sectors.
Global Vision, Dubai Launch
Behind this pioneering project is Gastronaut, a UAE-based tech-food startup led by CEO Ahmet Oytun Cakir. He says the goal isn’t to replace chefs but to enhance culinary creativity, reduce waste, and offer consistent, world-class experiences that can be replicated globally.
“Our vision is to license Chef Aiman’s technology to restaurants across the world,” said Cakir. “Imagine a future where AI tailors a menu to your nutritional needs, mood, and even weather conditions. That future starts in Dubai.”
Coming This September
WOOHOO is set to open doors in September 2025, and reservations are already being waitlisted for launch week. It’s expected to become one of Dubai’s top dining attractions, drawing attention from food critics, tech enthusiasts, and sustainability advocates alike.
Whether you're a food lover, a tech fan, or just curious about the future, dining at WOOHOO promises to be an unforgettable experience—where technology, taste, and talent meet on your plate.
